Water Damaged Carpets

These photos show a loss that was caused by a major leak in a toilet supply line causing water to back up into much of the house. The water sat for a couple of days before it was discovered which caused irreparable damage to the carpet. As you can see from the photos the carpet needed to be removed because it was badly damaged. When wet carpet sits for too long without having the water extracted the backing starts to separate from the carpet itself and this is called delamination. Once delamination has started the carpet becomes very hard to save.
